The American Community of Riyadh
Bringing people together in the pursuit of happiness
ACR exists to enrich the lives of the American and broader expatriate community. We understand the challenges of living here and work to balance those challenges by creating a unique community and making the “Riyadh experience” a positive one. We offer social and cultural events, educational programs, and an opportunity to experience all that Riyadh has to offer.

Dear Members and Friends,
Happy New Year! First, I would like to express to you my gratitude and profound appreciation for the privilege I have been given to serve our American and greater expatriate community here in Riyadh.
I look forward to meeting all of you, reaching out and connecting with the Riyadh community. Riyadh is an interesting city rich in culture and heritage and full of sites to visit and explore. So, get ready to be inspired by our upcoming events in the next few months and be enlightened with Riyadh and enjoy the experience together.
Our December programs brought us all together beginning with Off to the Races. Many of the attendees walked away with fabulous prizes. ACR extends our sincere thanks to our Event Sponsors; American Eagle Outfitters, Dairy Queen, Hotel Al Khozama, MIG Gems & Jewellery, nasair, Pottery Barn, Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers and Tony G’s Gourmet Food; for their kind and generous donations. Trim a Tree, brought together the younger participants, the children of our community, who enjoyed the craft morning decorating their individual trees. The month’s activities ended on a sweet note with the Silver Bells Holiday Reception at the Quincy House. A very special thank you is extended to Ambassador Smith and his wife, Dr. Janet Breslin-Smith, who generously opened their home where everyone enjoyed a magical holiday evening. ACR would also like to thank the Riyadh Choral Society and the musical duo, Ahmad Hakeem and Dawn Herron, who added to the spirit of the season with their performances. And of course, we could not forget to thank Todd Elledge, Barbara Merkel, Rudy Maraveles and all of the USERA support staff who worked diligently to transform the Quincy House into an enchanting holiday setting.
This month, we have some exciting events lined up for our members and friends and we look forward to your active participation and involvement with ACR. Together we can make a difference in our community and make Riyadh a better place for ourselves and for our families. We look forward to having you join us.
Sincerely,
Rola Osta
ACR Director
